Marisol at The Cliffs Hotel & Spa is continuously growing and expanding! We are seeking a skilled, efficient, and motivated Line Cook I who can create a sense of luxury through their culinary expertise. Must be available to work mornings and weekends. We look forward to connecting with you!
Position Summary: Line Cook I is responsible for preparing a variety of products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, broths, breads and other edible products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prepare List. The Line Cook I is an entry-level Cook position.
Essential Functions of the job:
  • On-site work required
  • Available to work opening shift, as early as 7am; Holidays and weekends required
  • Understand Basic English
  • Complete the opening and closing checklists, including line preparation for evening/morning shift and daily prep lists
  • Complete opening line set up for each shift in a timely manner
  • Ensure proper sanitation of stations and all coolers, including walk in and reach ins
  • Follow direction of senior kitchen management, including Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Line Cook III, and Banquet Chef
  • Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items
  • Execute their responsibilities of the line consistently while maintaining food quality and presentation, in a timely manner and at a fast pace
  • Consistently understands and complies with our standard serving sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workstation, including tables, shelves, grills, ovens, fryers, pots and pans, convection oven, countertops and cooling equipment.
  • Close the kitchen appropriately and follow the checklist for closing the kitchen stalls. Help others close the kitchen.
  • Ensure all waste is disposed of into appropriate recycle and compost bins
  • Promptly notify the manager of any problems with food equipment and quality.
  • Immediately informs manager of product shortages and any other inventory issues
  • Comply with all the hotel and restaurant conditions of employment and standards including uniform, grooming, health and safety
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations as ordered by local, county, and state government officials
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Ensures a positive work environment, following The Cliffs Mission, Values, and Basics
  • Follows all hotel policies and procedures
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned by manager

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the preparation of the kitchen and cooking.
  • At least 6 months of experience in a similar position.

  • Able to work weekends and holidays

Education, Experience, Skills:
  • High school diploma; culinary degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of guest services in a luxury hotel setting.
  • Understand basic English language.
  • Ability to work with people effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and work in mentally demanding situations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (eight or more hours).
  • Ability to lift small packages (excess of 40 pounds).
  • Be able to stretch, bend, bend and lift frequently up to 40 pounds in weight.
  • Ability to work in stressful situations.
