What is an entry-level consulting job?

An entry-level consulting job is a position suitable for individuals with little to no professional experience in consulting. It typically involves supporting project teams, conducting research, analyzing data, and assisting with client solutions, often requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. These roles serve as a starting point for careers in management, strategy, or business consulting.

What is entry level consulting?

Entry level consulting refers to positions for recent graduates or those new to the consulting field who assist organizations in solving business problems. These roles typically involve data analysis, research, preparing presentations, and supporting senior consultants on client projects. Entry level consultants gain exposure to various industries, develop problem-solving skills, and learn to communicate effectively with clients. It's a foundational role that offers training and career growth opportunities within consulting firms.

How do I get into consulting with no experience?

Entry level consulting roles often require strong problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and good communication. Gaining relevant skills through online courses, internships, or certifications like the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) can improve your chances. Networking and demonstrating a proactive attitude are also important for breaking into the field without prior experience.

Is AI going to replace consultants?

Entry level consulting involves analyzing complex business problems and providing strategic advice, tasks that require human judgment, creativity, and interpersonal skills. While AI tools can assist with data analysis and automate routine tasks, they are unlikely to fully replace consultants, as human expertise and client interaction remain essential for effective consulting. Professionals in this field should focus on developing skills in critical thinking, communication, and technology to complement AI capabilities.

What does a typical project assignment look like for an entry-level consultant, and how involved will I be in client interactions?

As an entry-level consultant, you'll often be assigned to project teams where you'll support tasks such as data analysis, research, preparing client deliverables, and contributing to presentations. Early in your career, most client interactions will be alongside more senior team members, giving you the chance to observe, learn, and gradually participate more actively as your confidence grows. The collaborative nature of consulting means you'll regularly work with colleagues from different backgrounds, offering a dynamic learning environment. Over time, high performers can expect to take on more responsibility and direct client communication as they progress.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Consultant, you need strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and a relevant bachelor's degree such as in business, economics, or engineering. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and sometimes data visualization or project management tools is usually required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and teamwork distinguish top performers in this role. These competencies enable consultants to deliver actionable insights, work effectively with clients and colleagues, and drive project success.

Is $100 an hour good for consulting?

About the Role

We are currently hiring motivated individuals to join our residential sales team in Edmonton.

This is a face-to-face, door-to-door role where you will speak directly with homeowners and book qualified appointments for our water treatment specialists.

You are not responsible for closing sales — your role is to generate high-quality opportunities.

We provide structured onboarding, field training, proven scripts, and daily coaching so you always know what to say and how to improve.

Your Role (Appointment Setter)

Everyone starts as an Appointment Setter.

Your responsibilities:

  • Knock on doors in residential neighbourhoods
  • Start conversations with homeowners
  • Identify interest in improving water quality
  • Book qualified in-home water tests/consultations
  • Track your activity and appointments

This is a simple but performance-driven role.

Compensation (Performance-Based)

  • Earn income from completed sales generated from your appointments
  • Typical earnings per successful deal from your appointments: $200–$400+

Compensation is commission-based. A percentage of each contract sold is paid out.

Typical Weekly Earnings (based on performance):

  • Entry-level: $500–$1,000
  • Average performer: $1,000–$1,800
  • High performer: $1,800–$2,500+

Growth & Advancement

We promote based on performance — not tenure.

Clear path: Appointment Setter → Closer → Team Lead

Top performers can move into closing roles with significantly higher commissions.

Why This Role Works

  • No cap on income
  • You control your results (no waiting on leads)
  • Rapid development of real-world sales skills
  • Clear advancement opportunities

  • Comfortable working outdoors and on their feet
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive attitude and coachable mindset
  • Driven by performance and income growth

Work Environment

  • Assigned neighbourhoods and territories
  • Outdoor work (afternoons and evenings)

Typical Schedule:

  • Team meeting and training: early afternoon (3 times a week)
  • Fieldwork: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Attend daily team meetings for training and updates
  • Conduct door-to-door outreach in assigned areas
