Job description

Summary: The Traveling Construction Laborer is an entry-level craft professional responsible for supporting interior construction activities on tenant improvement, renovation, retail refresh, and light industrial projects throughout the United States. This is a travel-intensive role requiring deployment to project locations nationwide in support of Sevan’s self-perform operations. Working under the direction of a Foreman and/or Superintendent, this role performs selective demolition, material handling, site logistics, jobsite cleanup, and general labor activities while supporting multiple trades throughout all phases of construction.

Travel Requirements:

  • Extensive nationwide travel is required.
  • Employees should expect to travel to project locations for extended periods based on business needs.
  • Company-paid lodging, travel accommodations, and applicable per diem are provided in accordance with company policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform selective demolition and removal of existing building materials and finishes.
  • Clean and prepare work areas for construction activities.
  • Load, unload, transport, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist carpenters, finish technicians, and other craft professionals with construction activities as directed.
  • Assist with flooring preparation, drywall installation, framing, ceilings, finishes, punch list, and closeout activities under the direction of field leadership.
  • Erect, move, and dismantle ladders, scaffolding, fencing, and other temporary jobsite equipment as required.
  • Remove and properly dispose of debris, waste materials, and construction scrap.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and all applicable regulations.
  • Support project mobilization and demobilization activities.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic construction equipment safely and effectively.
  • Execute assigned work activities under the direction of the Foreman and coordinate effectively with project team members.
  • Travel to project locations as required.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and company development programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous construction, labor, warehouse, moving, manufacturing, logistics, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, and basic construction equipment preferred.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification required or ability to obtain; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

Work Conditions:

This is a travel-intensive, field-based role supporting projects nationwide. Extensive travel to work on-site at active construction locations for extended periods based on project needs. Must have ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine. Involves movement between floors, and properties to facilitate work. Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
