Job description

Leidos is on the lookout for a Computer Scientist Associate to work in Honolulu, HI. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience in supporting the INDOPACOM J2 mission. The primary location for this effort is at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH), Hawaii. Candidates must currently possess a TS/SCI security clearance in order to be considered.

Note: This role is part of a prospective contract, contingent upon final award notification. Anticipated start date would be mid to late May 2026.

Job Summary:

Supports core computer science principles to help develop technical solutions that support intelligence operations. This role helps with designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software that processes and displays intelligence data from multiple sources. The Computer Scientist follows established development practices and works with the team to build secure and reliable capabilities that meet mission needs. The position requires a good understanding of computer science concepts and some handson experience developing software that aligns with DoD cybersecurity guidelines while contributing to the delivery of new features to the operational environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply computer science disciplines such as software engineering, algorithms, distributed systems, cloud computing, fullstack development, and database management while supporting ongoing project tasks.

  • Assist in designing and developing technical solutions that help meet JIOC mission requirements and address intelligence gaps.

  • Support the development and optimization of automated intelligence processes and analysis tools.

  • Help investigate, prototype, and evaluate emerging technologies and processes that could enhance intelligence capabilities.

  • Contribute to integrating new technologies into existing operational architectures to improve intelligence effectiveness.

  • Implement and integrate opensource, commercial offtheshelf (COTS), and government offtheshelf (GOTS) technologies under established guidance.

  • Participate in evaluating the functionality, effectiveness, and suitability of systems and applications to help identify and resolve shortcomings.

  • Assist with developing technical documentation, take part in code reviews, and support technical activities within development efforts.

  • Work with government, military, and contractor personnel in complementary mission areas to help identify and address technical deficiencies.

  • Provide recommendations for process improvements based on operational needs and emerging technologies.

  • Participate in intelligence planning conferences and exercises, J2 working groups, intelligence system capability development meetings, Joint and nationallevel intelligence coordination boards, and technical exchange meetings with mission partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current TS/SCI security clearance on day 1

  • At least 1 year of experience in computer science, software development or similar technical roles

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related technical field

  • Growing proficiency in multiple programming languages and software development frameworks.

  • Experience working with software development methodologies (SDLC, Agile, etc.) as part of project teams.

  • Experience supporting database design and management tasks.

  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and architectures and the ability to apply them under guidance.

  • Demonstrated problemsolving skills and the ability to apply critical thinking to technical challenges.

  • Experience developing code using DevSecOps practices and working with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to nontechnical audiences.
