Job description

ASRC Federal InuTeq is seeking an on-site Control Room Analyst in Mountainview, CA to support the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) facility, home to some of the world's fastest supercomputers, including Athena, Aitken, Cabeus, and Electra. This role is ideal for entry-level candidates looking to grow their careers in High Performance Computing (HPC), Linux systems, and technical operations within a mission-critical environment.

Attention Technology Enthusiasts and Linux Hobbyists: If you're looking to take the next step in your IT career, this is your opportunity to build hands-on experience in a cutting-edge HPC environment. This entry-level role is designed to help you grow your Linux and technical skillset while working alongside experienced engineers supporting mission-critical HPC NASA operations.

This is a 24/7 operations role, and candidates must be flexible to work 2nd shift (2:00 PM - 10:30 PM), 3rd shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM), or other assigned schedules. Flexible scheduling options are available, along with a full benefits package that includes tuition reimbursement to support your continued education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and operate high performance computing (HPC) systems and supporting infrastructure

  • Provide first-level technical support and issue resolution for NAS users

  • Perform system monitoring, triage issues, and escalate to appropriate support teams

  • Execute basic system administration tasks and user account management

  • Troubleshoot system issues and perform initial analysis

  • Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive operational tasks

  • Communicate system status and issues with operations and engineering teams

  • Conduct physical inspections of computing systems across multiple facilities

  • Manage tape library media and storage operations

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to pass NASA background checks

  • One of the following:

  • High School Diploma + 3 years relevant experience, OR

  • Associate's Degree (technical field preferred) + 0-1 year experience, OR

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or natural science field

  • Foundational IT knowledge through education or experience

  • Strong customer service skills in a technical environment

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work in a 24/7/365 shift-based environment

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Experience with Linux command line or Linux certifications

  • Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, Bash, C, C++, Java, Perl, Ruby, Fortran)

  • Prior help desk or technical support experience
