Description

Custom Agri Systems Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level CAD Drafter to join our team in West Fargo, ND. This position is ideal for someone beginning their career in drafting and design who is eager to learn and develop their technical skills. The CAD Drafter will assist in creating and revising detailed drawings for grain handling, grain storage, and agricultural construction projects while working closely with engineers, project managers, and field personnel. 

This role offers hands-on experience in agricultural facility design and provides opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative team environment. 

Essential Responsibilities 

  • Create and revise 2D and 3D CAD drawings using company drafting standards. 
  • Assist in preparing fabrication, construction, and installation drawings. 
  • Interpret sketches, specifications, and engineering notes to produce accurate technical drawings. 
  • Update existing drawings to reflect design changes and field modifications. 
  • Organize and maintain electronic drawing files and project documentation. 
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and production staff to ensure drawing accuracy. 
  • Review drawings for completeness, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with company standards. 
  • Assist with material takeoffs and basic project documentation when needed. 
  • Learn industry standards related to grain handling equipment, grain bins, conveyors, and support structures. 
  • Assist in going to sites to hekp gather dimensional information and other data 
  • Manage procurement of materials and in-house production of basic components for grain handling. 
  • Perform other drafting and administrative duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Required 

  • Technical diploma or associate degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred (or currently pursuing). 
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements. 
  • Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 

Preferred 

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks. 
  • Internship or classroom experience producing technical drawings. 
  • Familiarity with construction, manufacturing, or agricultural equipment. 
  • Basic understanding of mechanical drafting principles. 
  • Assist with site layout & ability to run a total station. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods. 
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. 
  • Ability to visit production facilities or construction sites as needed. 
  • Ability to distinguish colors, lines, and fine details in technical drawings. 

Work Environment 

  • Office-based position located in West Fargo, ND. 
  • Occasional visits to fabrication shops, warehouses, or job sites. 
  • Standard Monday-Friday schedule with occasional overtime during busy project periods.
