Pay Range

$35,400.00-$48,600.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Entry-Level Utility Worker to join our team. The Metal Manufacturing Technician I will be responsible for a variety of tasks to support our operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in all activities.

2nd Shift: M-Th: 2:30pm-12:30am 12% shift premium

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and PPE:

  • Select and use task-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to safe work habits to protect self and others.
  • Practice hand safety and follow hazardous communication protocols.
  • Ensure grinding safety and control of hazardous energy (LOTO).

Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

  • Operate forklifts and perform crane pre-use inspections and operations.
  • Conduct crane rigging, use slings and lift devices safely.
  • Perform machine guarding and basic machine maintenance, including pre-use inspections and blade changes.
  • Operate and maintain chop saws, shears, drill presses, pedestal grinders, sanders, and saws.
  • Handle pipe threading, tubing bending, and kitting operations.
  • Conduct waterjet, gun drill, and painting operations, including surface preparation and sand blasting.

Material Handling and Management:

  • Handle materials safely, including identification, labeling, inventory, and cycle counts.
  • Manage waste streams, including scrap metal and environmental considerations.
  • Perform material selection, handling, setup, and programming for specific tasks.

Quality and Production:

  • Interpret blueprints and ensure production meets shop standards.
  • Identify defects and ensure quality control.
  • Perform data entry for quality tracking and use SAP for confirmations, picking, and material lookup.

Technical Skills:

  • Utilize measuring tools such as tape measures, scales, micrometers, calipers, and squares.
  • Apply basic shop math for measurements, geometry, volume, and area calculations.
  • Operate computer systems for email, safety skills, Workday, and SharePoint.

General Duties:

  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Use common hand tools effectively.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA) comprehension and sign-off.

Minimal Requirements:

  • No previous experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills (email, safety skills, Workday).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing plant with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
