Description:

The Drafter / Machine Programming Engineer is a semi-entry level role focused on turning approved shop drawings into accurate machine-ready programs. This position requires extreme attention to detail, as even small errors can cause machine crashes or production issues. The role combines technical accuracy with productivity — ensuring code is created quickly and correctly while preparing subsequent work orders during server processing.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Break apart approved shop drawings into machine programming sequences.
  • Make minor corrections and update measurements as noted on drawings.
  • Follow SOPs precisely to generate machine programming code.
  • Maintain productivity by preparing new work orders while code is processing.
  • Collaborate with Project Drafters for product-related questions.
  • Seek guidance from Technical Engineers on machine programming or tooling questions.


Required Qualifications

  • Strong ability to interpret technical/shop drawings.
  • Demonstrated precision and accuracy in technical work.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine programming and processes.
  • Ability to follow structured SOPs with consistency.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD or CAM software (Cabinet Vision, Innergy, AlphaCAM, Mastercam).
  • Exposure to cabinetry, woodworking, or automated machining environments.
  • Associates degree or technical training in drafting, CNC programming, or related field.
