Job description

Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, as well as a clinic system with primary care clinics located in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. The comprehensive healthcare system includes a 473-bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of clinics in the North Loop, Whittier, and East Lake Street neighborhoods of Minneapolis, and in the suburban communities of Brooklyn Park, Golden Valley, Richfield, and St. Anthony Village. Hennepin Healthcare has a large psychiatric program, home care, and operates a research institute, philanthropic foundation, and Hennepin EMS. The system is operated by Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc., a subsidiary corporation of Hennepin County.

SUMMARY
Purpose of this position: This position is an entry-level job that is typically used for students to help them gain healthcare work exposure and work experience.
This internship position is specifically for Health Equity Talent Garden Interns. The duration of the program will be 6 - 8 weeks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Shadows physicians, dentists, advanced practice providers, nurses and other health professionals
  • Enters data using a computer keyboard
  • Searches for information contained in files or on a computer database
  • Takes notes during rounds or meetings
  • Types various documents and/or minutes of meetings
  • Other duties may be assigned, after appropriate training

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, GED, or current enrollment as a high school student
  • No minimum work experience is required

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word/Excel/Outlook) and/or similar office environment software programs
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to relate to people of various backgrounds
