Job Title: IT System Technician
Department: TP)IT Team
Shift: Nights 545pm-6am or Days 545am-6pm, 2-2-3 fixed schedule (Shift placement will be based on position availability)
Direct Report: Technical Specialist
Type: Full-time; Non-exempt

About the position

We are looking for a qualified Technician to provide operational excellence of the Manufacturing IT System, install, maintain and repair hardware and software components, provide technical support to users, troubleshoot issues and ensure smooth system operations. You will answer queries on underlying technical issues and work to solve them.

An excellent IT Technician must have sufficient technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution. They must also be customer-oriented and composed, to deal with demanding production needs.

Responsibilities are:
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, and network devices
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hardware and software issues, resolving technical problems promptly
  • Conduct routine maintenance on computer systems and networks, including performing upgrades and updates to keep systems current
  • Provide technical support to users, addressing queries and assisting with IT-related challenges
  • Manage network connectivity, including LAN/WAN infrastructure and security
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, fixes, and system issues through daily reporting
  • Verify the functionality of hardware and software components through regular daily checks
  • Perform all tasks safely and in accordance with company standards and established SOPs
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and colleagues across the organization
  • Regular attendance is a crucial aspect of the role
  • Continuously learn new technologies and undertake other functions as required
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements are:

Education:

  • (Required) High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • (Preferred) Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Related Field of Study.

Experience:

  • (Required) Minimum of 1 year previous experience as a help desk technician, computer technician, or IT support staff
  • (Preferred) Previous experience in the manufacturing industry

Language:

  • (Required) good command of written and spoken English

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware/software/tools for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Mathematics - Understanding of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles for strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Telecommunications - Understanding of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, operation of telecommunications systems, and tools for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Reading Comprehension - Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Systems Analysis - Determining how systems should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment affect outcomes.
  • Monitoring - Assessing performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
