MRP is searching for passionate and agile Packer who is a problem-solver and excited by challenges and the opportunity to build something great with us. As a Packer in the Finishing Department, you will be responsible for supporting the Operations Team by packing finished product into a carton in accordance with customer standards and providing a finished, packed carton to the next team member for shipping preparation.

What will you do in this role?

  • Locate corrugate cartons needed for next job during the make ready. 
  • Keep area clean, organized, and empty trash throughout the day to help keep area safe and tidy.  We have pride in our workplace!
  • Ensure labels are properly printed (if needed) for the next job during the make ready process and label cartons accordingly.
  • Ensure all labels are applied straight and neat.
  • Pack pieces into corrugated cases by reviewing the job order ticket and determining pack count.
  • Slide the corrugated case into the tape machine once complete towards the Padlocking area.
    • Max weight for pushing a case through a tape machine is 40 lbs.
  • Quality check every third carton (depending on customer rules and regulations) to make sure the product is in compliance regulations.
    • Tear open the product and check for the following:
    • Line up, tearing / cracking, belt marks, burns, scratches or scuff marks, glue squeezed out, glue line has remained acceptable, no glue tack, ensure creases / score lines are acceptable, gluer is not causes false creases or missing 45’s on auto bottoms 4 corner / 6 corner.
  • Maintain packing speed of the line with the operator.
  • Complete a full line clearance once the job is finished. (Reference the line clearance procedure).
  • Other duties as assigned that are needed in the Operations Team.

Preferred Requirements

Our teammates come from diverse backgrounds that help us innovate new possibilities daily. While the qualifications listed below are preferred, they are not required.   

  • Prior experience in a printing company
  • GED or High School Equivalent

The physical requirements and work environment:

Work exclusively in the production area, with light and heavy equipment where you stand and walk during your entire shift. Full body motion is required for this position including, bending, reaching, lifting, squatting, twisting, and the like.  Must be able to lift or carry up to 40 pounds.  Exposed to elevated noise levels throughout work shift, hearing protection use is mandatory while in production area.

Position Classification

  • Non-Exempt (Union) ,  40 Hours per week,  7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • 20 Minute (paid) lunch break
  • Position offers occasional overtime / weekends
