Fire Protection Sales Engineer (Entry-Level)
The primary responsibility of this position is to sell service agreements for fire suppression systems including fire suppression system designs, installations, repairs, system modifications, and upgrades. This individual will cultivate new business relationships, maintain existing accounts, and ensure the fulfillment of established sales goals through estimating and bidding fire protection projects. Embrace a consultative selling technique that includes the ability to analyze client needs, communicate appropriate solutions, and facilitate sales to closure.
This individual will design, coordinate, and project manage the projects he or she sells and manage the ongoing relationship with the customers. This person will have responsibility for the initial planning of a project including scheduling of time, material procurement, analyzing changes, and solving problems.
The pay range for this position is $65-75k per year, depending on level of experience.
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform site walks to review existing conditions, review construction contract documents, and coordinate with general contractor / owner to gather the required information to develop pricing and proposal and design the project's fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm system
  • Through use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility, systems possibilities, prepare cost estimates, and present effective proposals that offer solutions to customer life safety needs
  • Determine customer needs by conducting site surveys and communicate effectively to educate the customer about WSFP capabilities
  • Close sufficient sales to meet sales plan objectives
  • Develop and maintain an active backlog of proposals and contracts
  • Create detailed drawings through extensive use of CAD type software
  • Procurement of all material required throughout the project
  • Perform hydraulic calculations
  • Develop initial schedules for preliminary project work
  • Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure company is meeting customers' expectations
  • Coordinate with other departments within office and field technicians to ensure proper handover of job information
  • Conduct long range project planning and scheduling
  • Monitor and manage projects to comply with safety, quality, productivity, and profitability requirements
  • Work with our field superintendents to manage field labor force of assigned projects to assure maximum productivity
  • Identify changes in projects that impact cost, schedule, or labor requirements
  • Manage cost estimating for changes in work and submit in a timely manner
  • Process project billings and monitor outstanding invoices
  • Continually monitor progress of projects; review reports to ensure compliance with schedule and budgetary guidelines
  • Forecast future manpower requirements
  • Oversee work of subcontractors
  • Report to owner and general contractor about progress and any necessary modifications required
  • Ensure work complies with codes and permits
  • Recommend improvements in company procedures and overall company business practices

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related program of study. Associates degree in technical or construction related field.
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Proven ability and track record of performing work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines
  • Detail orientated with an ability to organize and effectively manage multiple complex tasks and solve problems
  • Ability to coordinate and work in a team environment
  • Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills
  • Highly motivated and proactive
  • Excellent communication skills-written and verbal
  • Previous construction industry experience is preferred
  • Must be able to pass a background check and post offer drug screen
  • Valid driver's license is required
