Position: Civil Engineer – Entry Level

Reports to: Department Manager – Civil

General Qualities:
  • Strong verbal and written skills are required.
  • Is a proactive self-starter.
  • Provides technical support.
  • Work well with others in a group setting.
  • Capable of developing solutions to problems.
Responsibilities:
  • Site/civil/highway design includes grading, roadway, storm water management, green infrastructure, water and sewer mains, signing, and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Preparation of associated calculations, reports, and spreadsheets.
  • Working on design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans.
  • Plan preparation using AutoCAD.
  • Field work includes investigations, data collection, sign and roadway infrastructure inventory collection, and observation of soil borings.
Requirements Educational/Professional Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Previous internship experience is desired but not required.
  • Some exposure to Site/civil/highway design is a plus.
  • EIT is desired but not required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods (often 6-8 hours a day).
  • Maintaining posture while working at a computer.
  • Short periods of standing or walking within the office (to printers, meeting rooms, etc.).
