Job description

The Associate Superintendent is an entry level facility operations role. This position will work closely with experienced Superintendents and Managers to learn all aspects of operating a Scoular facility to include prioritizing the safety of employees, effectively leading a team, performing an operational role, and enhancing Scoular's ability to operate and grow our business.

  • Assist facility management with the oversight of daily operations of the facility, including receiving, storing, and shipping grain/ingredients.
  • At the direction of management, coordinate transportation and maintenance needs for the facility to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Learn to manage inventory levels, grading standards, segregation factors, bin practices, mix-blend protocols and understand product quality while ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Understand loadout and handling equipment (legs, belts, augers and conveyors).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of preventative maintenance management to ensure equipment is functional, safe and in good repair.
  • Develop knowledge of grain grading, blending strategies, quality preservation, and customer specifications.
  • Provide a high level of customer service and communicate effectively with both customers and vendors.
  • Develop an understanding of Scoular's technology and systems.
  • Develop an understanding of trade basics to include basic bid sheets, contracts, transportation and commodity movement while building Scoular customers and markets.
  • Travel to other facilities as needed to enhance business knowledge and network exposure.
  • Drive Employee Safety agenda and improvement.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings and trainings and perform location inspections and facility assessment audits alongside EHS partners
  • Partner with management and EH&S Business Partners to ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations.
  • Partner with management to ensure compliance with all environmental requirements.
  • Lead daily work assignments and coordinate operational priorities in partnership with the Facility Manager.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and onboarding of new facility personnel.
  • Gain experience in providing feedback and performance management to team members.
  • Learn to create and maintain a positive and inclusive work environment, making Scoular a great place to work.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to identify needs and priorities, to develop partnership and initiatives that support community development goals alongside Scoular values.

Minimum

  • Currently pursing or recently obtained a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in problem solving techniques.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong and effective communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to travel, as needed.

  • Knowledge of elevator operations
