Description Title: Lecturer, CC (English) Position Number: Pending Hiring Unit: Language, Arts, and Humanities Division Location: Kaua'i Community College Date Posted: April 4, 2024 Closing Date: Continuous Salary Information: Minimum $1,911 per credit hour. Rate may be subject to change. Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: Part-time, for placement on lecturer candidate pool, contingent on availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.
Day, evening, or online offerings, on- and off-campus including but not limited to Early College. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct courses in English under general supervision. This may include accelerated developmental English composition, technical writing, first-year college composition, or a variety of other college-level English courses.
Maintain office hours of at least one hour per week for each course taught. Prepare course syllabi and reports related to teaching and student progress. Evaluate and assessment student achievement of course, program, and institutional learning outcomes.
Integrate teaching and assessment efforts with other instructors in the discipline area under supervision of the English Coordinator and/or Division chairperson. Collect student and peer evaluations and complete regular self-assessments of teaching effectiveness. Complete instructional assignments which may involve day, evening, early morning, outreach (such as Early College), and/or distance education classes.
Adhere to community college principles and philosophy. Work effectively with a diverse student and community population in accordance with the Board of Regents Policy 4.207 III.F.1 and college practice of the open-admission concept. Minimum Qualifications ENGLISH: (a) Master's degree in English OR (b) Master's degree in Literature or Writing OR (c) Master's degree in Fine Arts (Creative Writing)
All degrees must be earned from an accredited institution. If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis. Desirable Qualifications Master's degree in English Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate critical thinking skills into course content as an integral part of students' classroom learning activities.
Successful community college teaching experience. Successful online and face-to-face teaching experience. Successful teaching experience with multicultural/minority populations.
