Position Overview

The Data Center Deployment Technician I is an entry-level role ideal for candidates with 0โ€“1 year of experience looking to start a career in data centers. This position is primarily responsible for labeling fiber optic and copper cables and performing basic Quality Control / Quality Assurance checks limited to labeling accuracy and cable condition.

Technicians in this role work under direct supervision and follow established client and TDS standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately label fiber optic and copper cables according to client standards, drawings, and project requirements.
  • Verify cable IDs, rack locations, and labeling consistency at both ends of the cable.
  • Perform QC/QA checks to confirm:
  • Labels are correct, legible, and properly placed.
  • Cables show no visible damage, breaks, kinks, or compromised jackets during labeling.
  • Identify and report labeling discrepancies or visible cable damage to project leadership.
  • Assist with updating labeling documentation, checklists, and redlines as required.
  • Follow all site safety requirements and wear required PPE.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support project timelines and client standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0โ€“1 years of experience in a data center, cabling, or technical environment (experience preferred but not required).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow labeling standards and instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, structured environment.
  • Comfortable working in data centers, including raised floors and equipment aisles.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Exposure to fiber optic or copper cabling.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Military, trade school, or technical training background.
