Job description

Cape Fox is seeking a highly qualified Research Database Developer to join our team in support of a government customer with a strong foundation in computer science, health informatics, or related fields, supported by a minimum of three years' experience in database development and management within clinical research settings. The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Visual Basic, PERL, JavaScript, and C#, and demonstrate hands-on experience with platforms like REDCap, Medidata Rave, Microsoft Access, and SQL-based systems. A thorough understanding of data integrity, secure data handling, and compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is essential. This role also requires exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred candidates will hold advanced degrees or certifications, show adaptability to evolving technologies, and ideally have experience supporting military medical research. Cape Fox is committed to providing staff who exceed these standards to ensure high-quality, secure, and compliant support for complex research environments. This position is contingent upon contract award.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position has been established at: $90,000 - $120,000.

The above salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition, we offer a variety of benefits including company holidays, paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, as well as 401K with company matches. This job will be posted until filled or withdrawn.

Core Duties:

  • Databases, applications, data systems, and data integrity processes shall be developed and maintained with high accuracy and integrity
  • Development, integration, and maintenance tasks shall be completed within specified timeframes
  • All data management practices shall comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and relevant regulatory standards
  • Regular audits shall show a high level of data integrity and accuracy

Systems Development and Maintenance:

  • Develop, design, and maintain research data systems, including databases and applications
  • Implement and manage REDCap applications and online databases
  • Create and manage Microsoft Access and SQL databases for research data collection
  • Design, develop, and maintain clinical databases and data collection systems
  • Implement and manage electronic data capture (EDC) systems such as Medidata Rave
  • Develop, design, and maintain databases for research data collection and integration

Data Integrity Integration, Management, and Accessibility:

  • Ensure data integrity and accessibility by creating, coding, and maintaining databases
  • Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of data
  • Implement data management best practices to ensure efficient and secure data handling
  • Design and implement data integration strategies to provide seamless data flow across various systems
  • Perform data mapping, transformation, and data cleansing activities
  • Monitor data flow between databases, servers, and cloud services to ensure efficient data integration.
  • Utilize and manage research databases such as REDCap to collect, store, and analyzeresearch data

  • Write and optimize scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)processes
  • Develop and maintain data systems using programming languages such as SQL,JavaScript, and C#

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate comprehensive reports based on clinical, medical, and integrated research datafor healthcare professionals, researchers, and administrators. Analyze the data to identifytrends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement

Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure all data management practices comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP)guidelines and relevant regulatory standards while implementing security measures toProtect sensitive research and clinical data

Training and Support:

  • Provide training and support to clinical and research staff on database usage, datamanagement, and data integration practices and systems while troubleshooting andresolving database and data integration-related issues as they arise

Data Validation and Quality Control:

  • Perform thorough data cleaning and validation to ensure data accuracy anddevelop and maintain data management plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
