Job description

Job Summary

Reviews clinical cases and abstracts data for inclusion in nationally recognized quality benchmarking databases (Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Society for Vascular Surgery, and the American College of Cardiology). Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies cardiovascular patients for inclusion in the program registry through the application of strict program inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Demonstrates appropriate utilization of resources necessary to obtain valid, reliable data for entry into the registries.
  • Completes entry of data into the registry's database in an accurate and timely manner while ensuring the transmission of completed data.
  • Promotes and applies principles of continuous improvement to improve data abstraction process and data result integrity.
  • Completes assigned goals.

Minimum Required

  • Minimum three (3) years? clinical experience in inpatient cardiovascular care setting. Clinical chart review and abstraction experience.

Preferred/Desired

  • Previous NCDR/ACC/STS/TVT/VQI data abstraction

Education

Minimum Required

  • Nursing Degree or Associate Degree or higher in Cardiovascular Technology or Radiologic Technology or Graduate of an accredited Perfusionist program.
