Mead & Hunt is looking for an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our Transportation group.
Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as an on-site project representative
  • Construction inspection and documentation
  • Interpreting construction plan drawings and specifications
  • Field measurements and quality calculations
  • Field observations of roadway conditions and data collection
  • Roadway design modeling (AutoCAD or Civil3D)
  • Prepare cost estimates and specifications
  • Assist in developing design plans
  • Identify and apply or use the standards, guidelines and principals in the AASHTO Green Book, Highway Capacity Manual, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Highway Safety Manual, and other local and national standards
  • Assist in the analysis, preparation, or modification of reports, specification, plans, schedule, studies, permits, and designs for projects
  • Technical writing
  • Attend client meetings
  • Assist in client contact and communications.
A valid driver's license and some travel will be required. The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil engineering from an accredited college or university or the ability to obtain the degree within nine months of hire date.
The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
  • Modeling software (AutoCAD/Civil3D)
  • Passed Fundamentals Exam (EIT) or ability to within six months of start date
  • MS Office suite of software
  • Survey or construction inspection
  • IL inspector certifications (IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certification preferred)
