INTAKE COORDINATOR

PUBLIC PROTECTION & ADVOCACY BUREAU

CIVIL RIGHTS DIVISION

(Boston or Regional Office)

The Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General is looking for a highly motivated individual to serve as an Intake Coordinator in the Civil Rights Division.

The Civil Rights Division works to prevent and remedy discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics in order to ensure equal opportunity and safeguard constitutional rights for all. The Division is particularly committed to serving vulnerable and historically underserved individuals through community-informed, culturally and linguistically appropriate, and data-driven legal advocacy and affirmative legal action. We strive for equity, underscoring the importance of intersectionality and racial justice. Embedded in the Division are teams dedicated to protecting individuals and communities impacted by issues of children's justice, disability rights, and police accountability.

Primary Duties: The Intake Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of duties to assist the Division in investigating and resolving civil rights violations, including some paralegal duties. Primary responsibilities include:

Maintain and oversee systems for the Division to receive and process constituent complaints, including extensive work with intake database and spreadsheets.

Screen and evaluate constituent complaints, and conduct follow-up work as necessary (e.g. through communicating with individuals related to the complaint and conducting factual research).

Provide investigative and litigation support as needed to attorneys on civil rights investigations and litigation.

Participate in outreach events, including trainings and public presentations.

Network with community organizations and governmental agencies.

Create and update Division brochures and written materials.

Research issues of interest to the Division.

Respond to public records requests and other informational inquiries.

         Perform other duties as needed.

Position Type:  Full-Time/Non-Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote work days. On in-office days the Intake Coordinator will be required to report to our Boston office or one of our regional offices in Worcester, Springfield and New Bedford.

Salary: $59,513
