Job description

The primary functions of the role are to provide a leading role in delivery and support of solutions and services deployed across the assigned customer base. The candidate must have strong technical knowledge and be able to undertake detailed problem analysis. Functioning as a subject matter expert this role will ensure successful customer outcomes, whilst ensuring continued improvement of people and processes mentoring colleagues and enabling a culture driven by success.

The Senior Network Engineer is a critical role within the eir Business UK business that will deliver exceptional customer service and technical capability across our customer base. The successful candidate must have strong technical capabilities across Cisco technologies such as LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDA, SNA, ISE, DNAC and ACI, whilst ideally also having knowledge and demonstrable capability across the Fortinet FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiWireless and FortiSASE technologies. This knowledge should be complimented with a keen interest in new and emerging technologies, a constant drive for self-development and an ability to deliver exceptional customer service.

Expectations From The Role:
  • Work with eir Business customers as a trusted technology and service subject matter expert
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of customersโ€™ current system and service requirements and utilise where appropriate in designing customer solutions.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert, reviewing and providing considered feedback on solution designs.
  • Build and support of customer solutions which are underpinned by a solid understanding of network and security requirements and solutions.
  • Implementation, including the creation of comprehensive test plans, adherence to existing customer change control procedures and/or establishment of suitably secure/auditable procedures.
  • Implement best practices for network optimisation and ensure the reliability of critical network services.
  • Assist in the development of high-quality design documentation to meet eir evoโ€™s standards
  • Testing and development of solutions to continually improve the eir evo product portfolio.
  • Implementation of robust security measures to safeguard the customerโ€™s network infrastructure.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to relevant industry security regulations and standards.
  • Identify innovations and initiatives to improve products, processes and tools used within eir evo.
  • Collaborate with eir colleagues, Vendors and Partners on emerging technologies
  • Build and support customer solutions underpinned by a solid understanding of network and security requirements and solutions.
  • Engagement with customer stake holders, verbal and written.
  • Participation in on-call rota to deliver 24x7 services.
  • Documentation of delivered solutions.
  • Participate in Supplier Accreditation programmes, relevant to the position, including successful completion of exams.
  • Remain current regarding market developments and trends.
  • Collaboration and knowledge sharing with other members of the Operations Team.
Requirements For A Successful Application:
  • Demonstrable practical experience OR hold a valid Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) accreditation
  • Demonstrable practical experience OR hold a valid Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) accreditation
  • Demonstrable practical experience OR hold a valid Fortinet (FCA, FCP, FCCS, FCX) accreditation
  • Wide Area Network Solutions โ€“ MPLS, Internet, L2VPNs, Access Technologies
  • Cyber Security Solutions โ€“ Firewalls, IPS, UTM/UTP, SASE, ZTNA, Cloud Security
  • Data Centre Design Solutions โ€“ Cisco ACI and Data Centre switching environments
  • Knowledge of Enterprise-class IP environments and Enterprise-level customer expectations related to same is essential. This knowledge is preferably gained from a background (at least 4 years) in commercial professional services in a variety of Enterprise/Government clients.
  • Strong understanding of IT industry principles, evolving technologies and market trends
