About the Role:Job Summary

The Southern Market Chief Medical Officer serves as a physician executive within NGHS's Southern Market; the position reports to the System CMO. With a strong dotted line to the Southern Market President, the Southern Market CMO works with the Medical Staff at Braselton and Barrow promoting Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience. Dedicated Medical Directors to the Southern Market reports to the Southern Market CMO. Additionally, the Southern Market Chief Medical Officer works on strategic initiatives in the Southern Market by engaging with the Clinical Enterprise leadership and the System CMO. There is an expectation of maintaining a clinical practice.

Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Licensure or other certifications: License or eligibility for license to practice in the State of Georgia.

  • Educational Requirements: M.D. or D.O.

  • Minimum Experience: Previous experience may include Medical Directorships, VPMA, or a CMO..

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Works to develop and maintain trust between Administration and the Medical Staff.

  • Represents the NGHS and NGMC Administration to the Medical Staff.

  • Participates in NGHS/NHMC management committee meetings and provides a physician executive's perspective to the management team. Provides decision support to management on a routine basis.

  • Provides physician coaching services as appropriate, and works with the Medical Staff to coach physician outliers and disruptive physicians.

  • Assists the Medical Staff officers in executing their responsibilities; provides physician coaching services as needed; assures compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws.

  • Oversees preparation of the Medical Staff for DNV-GL surveys. Assures compliance with DNV standards and CMS CoPs that require Medical Staff participation and adherence.

  • Oversees physician engagement initiatives.

  • Provides direction on Risk Management issues that involve patient care, or interactions between physicians, between physicians and patients, or between physicians and staff that are detrimental to patient care.

  • Negotiates contracts for hospital based physician services and medical directors as requested by Administration.
