As a Chemical Technician, you play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment and chemical processes within the aluminum can manufacturing environment. This entry-level position involver handling day-to-day operations, monitoring chemical processes, and maintaining equipment to support efficient and safe production. Your attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols contribute to maintaining product quality and operational excellence.

Our crews work 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm / 6pm-6am) working a rotating 2-3-2 schedule. Schedules will rotate from day to night shift every 4 weeks. 

Competencies:

  • Chemical Knowledge: familiarity with chemical properties, reactions, and safe handling practices
  • Technical Proficiency: basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems relevant to production equipment
  • Troubleshooting Skills: ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions promptly
  • Safety Awareness: understanding and application of safety standards and regulations to maintain a safe working environment
  • Effective Communication: effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration
  • Attention to Details: keen observation skills to monitor processes and ensure quality standards are met
  • Time Management: ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet production goals
  • Team Collaboration: willingness to work collaboratively with team members and contribute to a positive work environment
 

Skills:

  • Equipment Operation, proficiency in operating production machinery and understanding of basic maintenance procedures
  • Handling, knowledge of proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals used in the manufacturing processes
  • Preventive Maintenance, ability to perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and ensure longevity
  • Quality Control Procedures, understanding of quality assurance protocols and ability to conduct inspections and tests
  • Data Recording, competence in documenting process parameters, maintenance activities, and incident reports accurately
  • Basic Computer skills,  familiarity with digital tools and systems used for communication and task execution
 

Accountabilities:

  • Chemical Process Monitoring, oversee and control chemical processes to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to specifications
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance, operate production machinery and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime
  • Safety Compliance, adhere to safety standards and regulations, handling chemicals and equipment responsibly to prevent accidents
  • Quality Assurance, conduct quality checks and implement improvements to maintain high standards in product output
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving, identity and resolve issues promptly, following established troubleshooting procedures to maintain continuous operations
  • Documenting and Reporting, maintain activities, and any incidents, ensuring clear communication with supervisors and team members
  • Continuous improvement, participate in initiatives aimed at optimizing processes, reducing waste, and enhancing overall production efficiency
 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 1+ years of job related experience (preferred work experience with hazardous chemicals)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (additional technical training or coursework in chemistry or related fields)
  • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA) are a plus
  • Basic computers skills

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • Expected Hiring Salary Range:$33.69/hr
