The Support Systems Tech is an entry-level contributor responsible for resolving Support Systems and Help Desk issues. This individual provides professional first-level technical support to a geographically dispersed employee population. The role supports Windows environments, Microsoft applications, email, enterprise systems, security requests, connectivity, and desktop hardware and software.

The ideal candidate combines strong Windows troubleshooting skills with an exceptional customer-service mindset. Success in this position requires clear communication, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently during off-shift hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 technical support for Windows environments, Microsoft 365 applications, email, enterprise applications, security-related issues, desktop hardware and software, and basic server or production-system issues.

• Troubleshoot common PC and connectivity issues involving Windows 10, legacy Windows 7 environments, VPN connectivity, and TCP/IP.

• Support Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, internet browsers, and iOS and Android devices.

• Assist with Active Directory-related requests, including user access and account support.

• Diagnose and resolve issues remotely using desktop support and remote-control tools.

• Accurately create, update, and manage incidents and service requests within the IT service management ticketing system.

• Retain ownership of opened tickets through resolution or escalation and coordinate with second-level support teams as needed.

• Thoroughly document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, escalations, and customer communications.

• Create and maintain knowledge-base articles to improve support consistency and team collaboration.

• Evaluate incident severity, establish the appropriate priority, and follow escalation procedures when necessary.

• Develop an understanding of critical business applications and the operational impact of system outages.

• Guide users through security-access requests and provide updates on existing requests.

• Communicate with employees at all levels using professionalism, empathy, tact, and diplomacy.

• Make escalation decisions based on issue urgency, business impact, support volume, and available team capacity.

• Participate in self-paced training and ongoing certifications to expand technical capabilities and support continued professional development.

• Resolve issues at the first level whenever possible and escalate to second-level support based on complexity, urgency, and workload.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Candidates should meet one of the following experience or education combinations:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Associate degree in a related discipline with at least two years of relevant experience; or

• Zero to two years of relevant technical support experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of PC diagnostics, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office applications

• Excellent customer service, communication, and phone etiquette

• Ability to work effectively in a close-knit, team-oriented environment

• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

• Ability to work independently with a high degree of self-management

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime when needed

• English/Spanish bilingual skills are a plus

• Ability to multitask, prioritize requests, and manage time effectively

• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

• High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL Foundation, HDI Support Center Analyst, MCP, CCNA, or CCNP are a plus

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
