The Idaho State Police (ISP) has a current opening for a Financial Technician in Meridian. This position will analyze, research, forecast, and reconcile complex financial documents; ensure compliance with laws, rules, and policies; perform related work.
PLEASE NOTE: The successful applicant will be required to complete a background investigation. Please review the ISP Drug Policy and ISP Grooming and Appearance Standards at Professional Qualifications | Idaho State Police
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
  • Independently review and process invoices for payment through LUMA. Ensuring accurate fiscal coding and compliance with ISP/State of Idaho policies and procedures
  • Provide assistance to internal and external customers regarding invoices, receipts, financial reports and other transactions
  • Communicate with ISP personnel and vendor representatives to resolve billing or invoicing errors/discrepancies, solve problems, and/or obtain information
  • Use bookkeeping methods and procedures to prepare work/spread sheets, standardize summaries and reports, and perform reconciliation
  • Research accounting systems and records to identify and correct errors in financial transactions
  • Explain and apply policies, procedures or regulations, and determine if financial data meets compliance standards
  • Process credit card purchases/receipts and travel expenses in the accounting system ensuring expenses are coded accurately and purchases are compliant and properly approved
  • Process daily cash deposits
  • Process new vendor set up and update changes in vendor information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Good Knowledge of:
  • Financial Record Keeping

Experience:
  • Researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports
  • Using computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data
  • Familiarity with MS Excel
  • Reviewing accounts payable and accounts receivable for processing and generating related reports

  • Excellent customer service and professionalism
  • Ability to learn quickly, take direction, work as part of a team, ask questions, and problem-solve
  • Organizational skills and accountability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in computer spreadsheets with attention to detail and accuracy
