Position Overview:
This entry-level position works under the general direction of the Project Lead or Senior Consultant. Responsibilities include supporting the implementation, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of public health initiatives across multiple client engagements. The Junior Public Health Consultant is an integral member of the project team, functioning in a highly collaborative and client-facing environment to support behavioral health, workforce wellness, substance use prevention, overdose prevention, and health education initiatives for local and state health department clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and revise evidence-based training curricula, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, and presentation materials for public health professionals and community stakeholders.
- Facilitate and co-facilitate virtual and in-person trainings on topics including behavioral health, substance use disorder prevention, overdose prevention, naloxone administration, and workforce wellness.
- Design and administer surveys, assessments, and program evaluation tools; conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess program effectiveness and participant outcomes.
- Develop dashboards, data visualizations, technical reports, and executive summaries to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in internal and external client meetings by preparing agendas, minutes, action items, and project documentation.
- Develop client-ready reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), implementation plans, and presentations.
- Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans to identify evidence-based practices and emerging trends in public health.
- Engage professionally with local and state health department clients, healthcare organizations, and community partners.
- Support proposal development, grant applications, and business development activities as directed.
- Assist project leadership with project management and deliverable tracking to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Master's degree completed or in progress in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Education, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Social Work, Nursing, or a related discipline required. A Bachelor's degree will be considered with applied experience in behavioral health.
- Certifications: N/A.
- Experience: Experience conducting research, evaluation, or applied public health projects required. Experience supporting or delivering trainings, workshops, educational sessions, or facilitation activities required.
- Skills: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex public health concepts into actionable recommendations. Demonstrated professionalism in client-facing environments. Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent projects with strong attention to detail.
