Job description

Job Title: Tissue Processing Technician (3rd Shift)

Job Description

This entry-level Tissue Processing Technician role focuses on performing tissue processing activities on the 3rd shift in a controlled clean room environment. You will develop strong technical skills, learn and follow detailed work instructions, and build a solid understanding of applicable regulations and quality standards. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will support the production of high-quality tissue products while maintaining strict aseptic technique and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tissue processing activities that consistently produce high-quality tissue products and optimal yield in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Accurately process tissue products while meeting established production schedules and daily output goals.
  • Work safely at all times, including donning appropriate clean room lab attire and following clean room operational SOPs.
  • Apply excellent aseptic techniques in a clean room or controlled environment while performing individual tasks and contributing to team-based activities.
  • Understand and follow requirements for proper waste handling and disposal in a biomedical manufacturing setting.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation and perform data entry in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Store, handle, and move tissue products to appropriate locations to maintain accurate in-process tissue inventories.
  • Perform cycle count activities in accordance with SOPs to support inventory accuracy.
  • Assist in the review and update of SOPs, work instructions, and procedures to support process improvements and compliance.
  • Develop into a technical expert in assigned tissue processing competencies and serve as an advisor to colleagues and engineers on tissue processing techniques and improvement opportunities.
  • Support key annual performance metrics for operations through consistent, high-quality work and adherence to procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, including team meetings and both formal and informal process improvement initiatives.
  • Train on first shift during the initial onboarding period and then transition to second/third shift responsibilities as scheduled.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment, GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) environment, clinical laboratory, aseptic environment, or tissue/specimen processing setting.
  • Ability to follow detailed SOPs and WIs with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
  • Strong understanding or aptitude to learn aseptic techniques and clean room practices.
  • Capability to accurately complete documentation and perform data entry in accordance with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to perform tasks with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift on a rotating 4x10 schedule after training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience with tissue processing or tissue banking.
  • Hands-on experience working in an ISO clean room or controlled environment.
  • Experience in sterile processing, sterilization, or decontamination procedures.
  • Experience as an environmental technician or in lab support roles.
  • Familiarity with GMP and GLP principles in a biomedical or laboratory setting.
  • Comfort working with continuous improvement initiatives and contributing ideas for process enhancements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Work Environment

This role is based in a controlled biomedical manufacturing environment that operates under strict aseptic technique and clean room operational SOPs. You will work in an ISO clean room or similar controlled environment, wearing appropriate clean room lab attire and following lab safety protocols at all times. The position requires adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices, as well as proper waste disposal and decontamination procedures. The role involves initial training on first shift (approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) for the first two weeks, followed by transition to a 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. schedule on a rotating four 10-hour days per week. The culture emphasizes continuous improvement, collaboration, and leveraging individual strengths and talents within a structured, process-driven setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.25 - $19.25/hr.
