Job description
The Biomedical Technician I works under direct supervision to provide maintenance and technical support, helping ensure equipment remains safe, accurate, and compliant with manufacturer specifications while supporting the mission of UT MD Anderson.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electronic Engineering preferred. Entry-level candidates and recent graduates with strong technical aptitude, a willingness to learn, effective communication and customer service skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment will be well suited for this role. Participation in professional or student engineering organizations is preferred.
Salary Range (Hourly): Minimum $27.64 - Midpoint $34.62 - Maximum $41.59
Work Location: Onsite in the medical center.

Responsibilities
Equipment Installation, Assembly & Inspection
• Receive, assemble, and inspect new medical, surgical, and research equipment
• Verify equipment readiness and compliance with manufacturer specifications
Maintenance & Technical Support
• Provide maintenance and technical support for medical, surgical, and research equipment under direct supervision
• Calibrate and maintain equipment to support safe and accurate operation
• Ensure continued equipment performance through routine inspections and maintenance activities
Troubleshooting & Repair
• Troubleshoot electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment
• Inspect, repair, and modify existing equipment as needed
• Communicate with clients to troubleshoot equipment-related problems
Performance Assurance & Compliance
• Conduct and document performance assurance testing
• Analyze test results and determine whether equipment is safe and accurate for continued use
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and applicable operating procedures
Documentation & Administrative Support
• Document all modifications and general equipment maintenance per standard published operating procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintain onsite presence as required
EDUCATION
- Required: Associate's Degree Biomedical Technology (BMET) or Electronic Engineering.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Biomedical Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Required: None. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
- Preferred: Entry level candidates, recent graduates with little to no hands on experience, strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn, effective communication and customer service skills, ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment. Participation in a Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), biomedical technology association, engineering club, or similar professional/student organizations.
Required: Onsite presence.
