Job description

SALARY RANGE: $19.00 - $23.00/ hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Entry-Level Facilities & Maintenance Technician supports the Facilities Manager in maintaining the organization’s five (5) facilities and associated grounds. This role is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance, light repair, and office support tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and well-functioning environment for employees and visitors.

This position is ideal for a dependable, hands-on individual with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Facilities & Maintenance Support

  • Assist with general building maintenance activities including painting, minor repairs, and basic upkeep
  • Perform carpet cleaning and spot maintenance as needed
  • Hang pictures, signage, whiteboards, and other wall-mounted items
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and routine inspections

Office & Workplace Support

  • Move, assemble, and rearrange office furniture and equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of common areas, conference rooms, and shared spaces
  • Replenish coffee stations, kitchen supplies, and breakroom inventory
  • Refill water and supplies in conference rooms and meeting areas

Grounds Maintenance

  • Support upkeep of exterior grounds including light landscaping, debris removal, and seasonal tasks
  • Assist with snow/ice management coordination as needed

Team & Project Support

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Facilities Manager
  • Assist with special projects, office reconfigurations, and internal moves
  • Respond to facilities requests and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior maintenance, custodial, or handyman experience is a plus

  • Ability to travel regularly between branch locations (weekly: Greece, Pittsford, and quarterly: Syracuse)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess: strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work around machines, to climb and descend ladders, to operate a variety of tools and equipment, and to operate a motor vehicle; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and to distinguish colors in wiring; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. Frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and to operate tools and equipment. Incumbents in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and inspect work sites. Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS:

Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. Exposure to chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.

WORKING CONDITONS:

Incumbents may be assigned an on-call and irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
