Job description

Position Summary

The Audiovisual (AV) Technician -I supports the installation of professional audiovisual and IT systems at customer and construction sites. Working under the direction of a Foreman, Project Manager, or senior team member, this role assists with equipment installation, wire pulls, system assembly, and other activities required to complete projects safely and according to specifications.

This is a temporary, entry-level opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in the audiovisual and technology industry. During this temporary assignment, the Audiovisual (AV) Technician -I will support active projects while gaining experience with commercial AV equipment, installation tools, project documentation, and industry standards alongside experienced members of the field team.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with the installation and mounting of AV equipment, including displays, projectors, screens, speakers, and related equipment
  • Complete equipment installations, wire pulls, cabling, and system assembly as directed
  • Read and follow project documentation, work orders, drawings, and installation instructions
  • Perform installation work according to project specifications and company quality standards
  • Provide updates on project progress, issues, or potential changes to the Foreman or Project Manager
  • Protect equipment, materials, customer property, and work areas while on-site
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Properly use AV/IT trade tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and other equipment as trained and authorized
  • Follow OSHA, company, and jobsite safety requirements
  • Attend required training, safety meetings, and project coordination meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on project and business needs


What We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability and willingness to learn AV installation techniques, tools, equipment, and safety practices
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required state installation licenses and certifications, including powder-actuated tool certification, as applicable
  • Ability to work safely around power tools, electrical equipment, heights, and active construction environments
  • Ability to travel to customer and project sites, including occasional overnight travel
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on project needs, which may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in audiovisual, IT, construction, electrical, low-voltage, or a related trade
  • Familiarity with AV/IT trade tools and installation practices
  • Experience working on construction sites or in field-based environments
  • Exposure to installing displays, projectors, speakers, cabling, or other audiovisual equipment
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, climb ladders or scaffolding, and work in various positions for extended periods
  • Ability to safely use construction equipment, including ladders, scaffolding, lifts, hoists, and pulleys, as required
  • Ability to work in varying environments and temperatures, including active construction sites and finished customer spaces
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow applicable safety procedures
