Job description

Entry level role focused on supporting the premium audit function. Communicates with internal and external customers and supports a growing book of middle and large businesses across all lines. Works with the unit supervisor and peer audit review team in processing and billing audits for all accounts. With our producers always on the go selling our premier line of insurance products, we’re in need of some help ensuring that we’re meeting our customer’s needs administratively. We have a rare opening for a Premium Audit Technician. In this position, you’ll provide support and administrative assistance for the department’s activities.

What You’ll Do

As the Premium Audit Technician, you’ll evaluate basic mail audits and report form information received from customers to develop accurate exposure bases and final earned premium for customers subject to mail audits and reporting program, including reviewing payroll records, sales receipts, financial/business records, and physical inspections of the customer’s premises to determine whether the premium charged accurately reflects the risk assumed.

In addition, you’ll:

  • Handle premium audit related inquiries from underwriting, sales, customers, and CPAs
  • Oversee the more routine mail audits and report forms/risks
  • Process reviewed policyholder audit reports and physical audit report date in the policy administration system
  • Receive and respond to questions/problems regarding reporting forms, risk classification, class code application, state rules, and regulations
  • Perform other job-related duties requiring the same general knowledge, skills and degree of responsibility commensurate with the assigned level

What it Takes

  • High school diploma or related work experience, associates degree is preferred
  • Organizational and exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to explain and justify the decision of additional premium charges to the customer in a firm but professional manner
  • Analytical skills to effectively interpret insurance coverage, manual rules and audit information
  • Basic aptitude for math, accounting, and financial documents beneficial
  • Previous experience in a commercial lines environment beneficial
  • Keyboard, personal computer, LAN and software application (Word, Excel, ect) skills
