Job description

Description:

The Assistant Project Manager position helps facilitate project success by collaborating with the Project Manager and Project Team on all aspects of work related to Power Delivery Projects. The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for managing the overall project scope, schedule, cost, and risk management as well as establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and any other project stakeholder.

Requirements:
  • Help assist the Project Manager to manage overall project performance (quality, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource issues, risks and customer satisfaction), utilizing the resources of team members.
  • May serve as single point-of-contact by establishing, maintaining and managing customer, subcontractor, and joint venture partner's expectations (where applicable) relating to project performance.
  • Reports project status and performance data as required to management, project sponsors and other stakeholders.
  • Supports the planning, monitoring, and controls the project throughout its life cycle (bid, contract award, engineering/design, procurement, construction, close out).
  • Independently submit and record project invoices.
  • Run financial reports for assigned projects.
  • Monitor project deadlines and benchmarks and support the Project manager with monthly reports.
  • Prepare and present meetings notes when necessary.
  • Resolve questions regarding the project; research and provide appropriate answers after reviewing with team and the Project Manager to stakeholders.

At any given time could be involved in a combination of:

  • Managing a major project.
  • Mentoring others. (based on PMI's PMBOK®)
  • Assist in marketing and business development activities.
  • Assist in changes to the project plans.
  • Developing process for managing Projects.
  • Reviewing Standards for Project Execution (Checklists, Flowcharts, etc.)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Industry experience in Power Delivery Projects
  • Knowledge and application of PM processes
  • Knowledge and application of Financial Management.
  • Basic understanding and application of contract commercial terms.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role.
  • Associates degree in Business Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline.

For Preferred Consideration (Not Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience doing detailed design for one of the following: substation, transmission, distribution
