Description / Position Overview Application Support Administrator I About the Job: The City of Colorado Springs is seeking an Application Support Administrator I who will implement and support the many "commercial off the shelf" (COTS) software solutions and Software as a Service (SaaS) with a moderate degree of complexity and scope used to meet customer needs spanning from one to multiple City departments that are in line with City strategy, industry best practices and trends, and City standards, policies, and procedures. The administrator may also be involved in identifying requirements, researching, and evaluating possible solutions to modernize the City's application portfolio. This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year.

See the full potential of growth for this position here: 2026 Salary Schedule As an Application Support Administrator I, you will: Support COTS (commercial off the shelf) software solutions including installing, configuring, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Provide application security, user setup, role privilege definitions and assignments, and security permissions Serve as a liaison with the vendors on product deployments, upgrades, data migrations, support issues, or product issues Coordinate the IT responses to the customers and vendors across IT teams Oversee the installation and/or upgrade of software patches and releases Create system documentation and user training materials and train users in the proper use of hardware or software Report on the use and effectiveness of the solutions Provide user support and coordinates scheduled downtime and upgrades with user community Manage a variety of systems, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud solutions, intelligence ecosystem, and Cloud vendor management Read technical manuals, confers with users, or conducts computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support Recommend decisions to allocate and schedule deployment project activities related to COTS software Assist with ITIL-based Incidents, Request Fulfillment, and Change Management processes Analyze and document software and system requirements to be included in the selection, implementation, and production of COTS software solutions and upgrades Research potential COTS software solutions to determine fit with business need Other duties as assigned Learn more about this job by reviewing the class specification on the City of Colorado Springs Class Specifications page We are looking for candidates who demonstrate: Knowledge of: How to install, update and maintain on-premises software Configure and support cloud bases applications Using an Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) system Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Ability to: Perform job duties with a high degree of accuracy Maintain a high degree of accuracy while working in a demanding and highly interactive team environment Provide excellent customer service Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study.
This is an entry level position and prior experience is not required. Obtain within six (6) months of hire, a CompTIA Security+ certification.We value a diverse range of qualifications and experiences.
