Overview

The Assistant Designer supports the Design team throughout all phases of the seasonal product development process. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams and overseas vendors to bring concepts to life, ensuring designs are executed accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow within a dynamic fashion environment.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with domestic and overseas vendors to communicate design updates, revisions, approvals, and development requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in the development, tracking, and approval of trims for each seasonal collection.
  • Create and update technical sketches in Adobe Illustrator and maintain accurate style information in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Revise sketches and product information throughout the development process as needed.
  • Research fashion trends, silhouettes, colors, and trims through market shopping, online resources, and print media to support seasonal concept development.
  • Organize and maintain design files, trim libraries, and seasonal reference materials for easy access by the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure design intent is executed successfully.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; experience with Adobe Photoshop preferred.
  • Experience with WebPDM or a similar PLM system is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of patternmaking, garment construction, and apparel development.
  • Knowledge of fabric types and textile characteristics within the apparel industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Internship or related experience in fashion design is a plus; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary work, prolonged periods of time working at a desk and on a computer.  
  • Ability to communicate information and observe details at close range.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required
