Entry Level Accountant
JOB SUMMARY:
The Accountant maintains various credit union records and processes, ensuring they are compliant with generally accepted accounting and financial practices. The Accounting department supports both credit union members as well as other credit union employees in providing efficient and effective service.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Perform a variety of duties to assist the Operations/Accounting Manager in maintaining financial and accounting records for the credit union
  • Handle all types of transactions related to ACH, share drafts, account payables and bill pay
  • Complete reconciliations related to credit and debit cards, check files, general ledgers, journal entries, and other areas
  • Process incoming and outgoing wire transfers, both domestic and international
  • Responsible for various cyclical reports and any corresponding entries
  • Demonstrate an understanding and follow the requirements of all regulation compliance, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Member Due Diligence (MDD) as it specifically relates to their job functions
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Work experience directly associated with accounting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
  • Strong computer aptitude, including in Microsoft Office products (Excel and Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral, written and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must develop a working knowledge of the Credit Union’s data processing system.
  • Must respond with skill and courtesy to heavy surges in workload.
