Job description

Summary
The New York Power Authority is seeking a Configuration Analyst to support the implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operation of the core enterprise platforms that keep our Risk & Resilience function running. This is an entry-level to early-career opportunity, ideal for a motivated recent graduate or a professional with up to two years of experience in IT, software development, or systems administration who is ready to grow within a high-impact technology team.
Reporting to the Director, Risk & Resilience Technology, you will work alongside senior Configurators to support platforms including Microsoft 365, RSA Archer, Workiva, and Python- and Node.js-based automation and services. Your responsibilities will span system monitoring, incident management, scripting, and stakeholder communication. You will identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency and help implement improvements with team guidance, develop and maintain Python and Node.js scripts that streamline routine operations and reduce manual effort, and participate in the full software development lifecycle-from requirements gathering and testing through deployment and post-implementation support-for enterprise system changes. You will also maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, runbooks, and lessons learned, and contribute to code reviews and version control practices in line with team standards.
This is a hands-on role with clear mentorship and meaningful room to grow, offering exposure to the enterprise systems that directly support the resilience of New York's power infrastructure. Please note that desktop and network infrastructure support falls outside the scope of this position.
The Configuration Analyst supports the implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of core enterprise IT systems at the New York Power Authority. This is an entry-level to early-career position suited for a motivated recent graduate or a professional with up to two (2) years of relevant experience in IT, software development, or systems administration. This role would be part of Risk and Resilience Business unit. #LI-CJ1
Responsibilities
  • Assist with implementations, support, and improvement of hardware and software solutions
  • Assist in support and maintenance of core platforms including M365, RSA Archer, Workiva Python-based automation, and Node.js services
  • Assist in operational management of key infrastructure platforms and services like M365, RSA Archer, Workiva
  • Communicate and coordinate with other teams, management, and project manager on implementation and integration for projects and services across the enterprise
  • Assist in incident lifecycle management using ITIL methodologies
  • Support existing environments including patching and vulnerability management, and platform upgrades
  • Assist in the testing and operations of SaaS based upgrades
  • Assist in resolution of production issues while adhering to IT change and incident management, and verification practices (ITSM)
  • Assist and support continuous improvement of IT operations through tasks automation and scripting
  • Support Business Continuity Processes and Disaster Recovery exercises

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to handle all but the most complex IT tasks for medium and small enterprise systems and/or discrete parts of large enterprise systems
  • Knowledge of systems and software debugging
  • Excellent written and oral communication is essential to document incidents, reporting to senior management, and to capture customer needs
  • Ability to investigate what is not intuitive and to develop solutions to non-routine problems
  • Competent to work at the highest technical level on all phases of system implementations and support
  • Must be aware of changes and advancements in the industry and develop industry-wide expertise
  • Proficient in the use of the M365 platform and services, virtualization technologies, storage and compute, cloud platforms, and infrastructure services like Active Directory, DNS, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages and automation tools

Education, Experience and Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required. IT related field preferred.
  • 2 years of related experience preferred
  • Experience in the use of platforms including M365, RSA Archer, Workiva Python-based automation, Node.js services and multiple application development tool sets as well as experience in formal system development lifecycle methodology
  • Experience using standard application development design, report and project management tools

Physical Requirements

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
