Job description

At AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company, we're proud to manufacture some of the most critical products in waterworks, energy, and infrastructure, including ductile iron and spiral-weld pipe.We're looking for a hands‑on Electrical Manufacturing Engineer to help drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.

What You'll Do
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost control.
  • Monitor and analyze production processes using data‑driven tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Identify issues, evaluate root causes, and develop practical solutions to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Design new systems, equipment, tooling, and process improvements; support retrofits and upgrades.
  • Analyze process and material test data and document improvements using structured problem‑solving methods.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Technical Services, and Product Development teams.
  • Assist with employee training on procedures, equipment, quality systems, and safety practices.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and support quality management system compliance.
  • Serve in a supervisory or leadership capacity when needed and mentor others through training and technical guidance.
  • Lead or participate in Operational Excellence, Safety, and Quality initiatives.
  • Support Manufacturing Execution System (MES) projects and other manufacturing technologies as assigned.
  • Interpret maintenance data (CMMS) to recommend preventative measures and reduce downtime.
  • Evaluate, specify, and help implement new equipment, tools, and automated systems.
  • Work directly with vendors and suppliers to explore innovations and control costs.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Comfort working in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to be a hands‑on, shop‑floor‑oriented engineer
  • Proficiency with standard software tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and measuring instruments
  • Flexibility to work occasional extended hours, weekends, or travel as needed
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with PLCs, automation, robotics, CAD, or control systems
  • Background in electrical systems, machine shops, tooling, IT, or maintenance
  • Graduate education, professional certifications, or Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Leadership or project management experience in a manufacturing setting
