Job description

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
We are looking for an entry level Satellite Test Engineer to help develop and execute testing to qualify new satellite designs for flight.
This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging opportunity to work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. We want individuals who want to reach beyond what is possible today. Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work in a highly collaborative environment. Our team is responsible for delivering a qualified satellite that enables thousands of satellites to fly.
As Amazon Leo Satellite Test Engineer you will work with multiple engineering and manufacturing teams across ground and space systems to define test requirements, develop test plans, complex test scripts, and execute test campaigns to support development test initiatives. Your focus will be in test development to enable the introduction of new generations of satellites.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop, augment, and support testing of components, from subsystems to the full spacecraft to determine suitability for flight.
- Implement test strategies to mitigate product risks to stakeholders.
- Work with avionics, payload, and software teams to gather requirements, design test plans, determine applicable test cases, and prepare for test execution.
- Collaborate with responsible engineers, manufacturing engineers, software developers, tooling teams and ground support teams to deliver a thoroughly tested spacecraft ready for launch.
- Communicate fluidly across a variety of teams to identify product risks and how they will be addressed to ensure mission success.
- Develop complex test automation sequences using scripting languages such as Python.
- Develop innovative hardware and processes to optimize and improve testing capabilities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in design and/or test
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systems
- Experience in hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems
- Hands-on testing experience.
- Experience developing and executing test plans for complex aerospace, automotive or consumer electronics systems.
- Scripting or programming experience (Python, MATLAB, C, etc.).

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
