Job description

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Cattle Accountant to process livestock settlements, execute accurate data tracking, and timely regulatory reporting for our Cattle Procurement department. In this role, you will generate documentation and financial processing for both general livestock procurement and premium grading programs. Serving as a critical interface between plant floor operations and corporate finance, you will ensure total transactional accuracy and data integrity across all livestock procurement activities. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and verify incoming cattle delivery paperwork, including scale tickets, bills of ladings, and shipment manifests.
  • Generate all cattle and livestock hauling payments.
  • Generate, compile, and distribute final payment settlement paperwork, checks, and data summaries directly to producers.
  • Prepare and submit time-sensitive livestock inventory and pricing updates according to strict daily deadlines to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Track and organize qualifications and payouts for specific beef quality and premium programs.
  • Execute precise end-of-day data processes and back up all daily transaction files to preserve accounting database integrity.
  • Partner cross-functionally with all plant departments effectively.
  • Handle check stuffing, prepare FedEx shipments, navigate postage machinery, and coordinate mail logistics to the post office and FedEx if needed.
  • Build, maintain, and update multiple analytical spreadsheets to track historical procurement data.
  • Develop a strong understanding of company software and be able to navigate successfully.
  • Manage the compilation and submission of all daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Education:
  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Accounting, Finance, or Economics is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills:
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency required.
  • Prior accounting, finance, or cattle procurement experience within the beef or agricultural industry is highly desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate across diverse operational units.

Schedule & Location:
  • Regular working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Required Saturdays on a rotational basis.
  • Full time, in-office position in Omaha, NE
