About our Controls and Avionics Aftermarket Group
BAE Systems is seeking an Electronics Test Engineer for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) Aftermarket location in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Trusted in the industry, the CAS Aftermarket provides repair services and support for flight critical products to maintain and enhance the reliability of domestic and international commercial airlines as well as military applications. As a member of the BAE Systems team, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on with complex electronic controls and solve challenging technical problems that both enhance our products' performance and matter to our customers. Position Summary
Performance in this role requires consistent, product/test engagement and in-person collaboration with Repair Station Operations team members as well as Programs, Engineering, and Quality organizations to perform daily repair and overhaul activities. Therefore, this role will be conducted 100% on-site at the BAE Systems facility.
In the Electronics Test Engineer role, the qualified candidate will provide technical and test support for products within the Aftermarket. Responsibilities include:
  • Performing daily triage and troubleshooting activities on electronic controls and their circuit card subassemblies
  • Isolating product faults to component level and generating compliant work instructions for repair
  • Working with operators and maintenance staff to coordinate product and equipment repair actions and prioritize product test plans
  • Assisting in engineering root cause investigations to address product performance issues
  • Generating detailed test process work instructions and executing their associated implementation plans
  • Training team members on various test and repair station processes
  • Meeting the required safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets for repair and overhaul activities
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities

  • This position offers multiple shifts with flexible start times across our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Weekend Shifts including 4-day work week schedules.
  • A 10% of salary shift differential is offered for any 2nd, 3rd or Weekend Shift position.

Required Skills and Education
  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Electrical Engineering (EE), or related degree, and 4 or more years related work experience
  • Acceptance into a 14 CFR Part 120 compliant FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program with random testing
  • Experience in high-level embedded systems and circuit analysis, electronic troubleshooting (e.g. analog, digital, power, and communication), and test equipment operation.
  • Ability to read schematics and interpret/implement technical specifications
  • Ability to diagnose faults down to an electronic component level using standard laboratory equipment (e.g. power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and critical thinking
  • General understanding of electronics manufacturing and test processes
  • Effective oral/written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

Preferred Skills and Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Electrical Engineering (EE), or related degree, and 4 or more years related work experience
  • Experience using advanced test and analysis instrumentation (e.g. spectrum, bus, and logic analyzers, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing and test of high reliability electronic assemblies and their avionics applications
  • Experience working in a high-paced repair station environment
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize multiple activities in a team environment
  • Experience using complex analytical tools and methods (SPC, 6 Sigma, etc.)
