Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for executing engineering requirements analysis, developing and validating test plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, working under general supervision. The role documents design specifications and results, implementing design improvements, and troubleshooting technical issues across hardware and software, while mentoring junior team members. The role participates in design reviews, provides insights for continuous improvement, and adheres to company policies and quality standards. The role evaluates external vendors and technologies for integration, maintains component performance and reliability, and fosters strategic partnerships to enhance product innovation.
Your role:
  • Transducer Mechanical Design & Architecture Design housings, acoustic stacks, interconnects, and mechanical interfaces that meet acoustic and ergonomic requirements while supporting electrical integration.
  • Prototyping & Acoustic Validation Develop prototypes and collaborate with acoustic, electrical and signal processing engineers to validate transducer performance. Execute mechanical tests that simulate acoustic coupling and environmental stresses.
  • Materials, Adhesives & Packaging Select materials and adhesives that preserve acoustic properties and reliability. Design packaging solutions for acoustic isolation, cable routing, and connector durability.
  • DFM/DFA & Supplier Collaboration Incorporate design for manufacturability and assembly early in development. Work with suppliers on tooling, molding, and precision assembly; support supplier qualification and pilot builds.
  • Reliability, Root Cause Analysis & Field Support Lead root cause investigations for failures and implement design changes to improve reliability and reduce field issues.
  • Documentation & Obsolescence Management Prepare and maintain CAD models, BOMs, test procedures, and verification reports. Manage component obsolescence and qualify alternates.

You're the right fit if:
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering or other engineering disciplines.
  • You have experience in medical devices, acoustic systems, or precision electro-mechanical products, and are effective as an individual contributor. Familiarity with medical device quality systems (ISO 13485), regulatory requirements, and design control processes preferred is a plus.
  • You have strong skills in mechanical design and reliability principles (DFSS, DFMEA, DFM, GD&T), experience with hardware/software interfaces, and thermal modeling is a plus. You are proficient with CAD and FEA tools (Creo/ProE, SolidWorks, Ansys Classic/Workbench); familiar with configuration management systems such as Windchill, eMatrix, or SAP is a plus.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • You demonstrate excellent communication, technical writing, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Direct experience with ultrasound transducers, acoustic stacks, or sensor packaging is a plus. Hands-on prototyping and precision assembly experience is a plus.

How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.
This is an office role.
