Are you passionate about supporting individuals experiencing mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders? Do you have a lived recovery experience and want to use it to empower others? If so, we encourage you to apply for our Peer Specialist position at New Hope CORPS!

As a Peer Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as amentor and role modelfor individuals on their recovery journey.
  • Connect clientsto essential support services.
  • Lead groupsfocused on improving wellness and daily living skills.
  • Advocate for clientsand provide peer support.
  • Assist clientswith after-care services and navigating the community.
  • Contribute to a recovery-oriented culturewithin our program/team.

This is an entry-level position that welcomes individuals with limited client care experience. We value lived experience and are committed to providing training and support for your professional development.

To be successful, you will:

  • Have a lived experience of recovery from a serious mental illness or addiction, either personally or from a close family member
  • Pass a Level II Background Check or obtain a DCF Exemption from Disqualification within 180 days of hire.
  • Hold a Peer Specialist Certification from the Florida Certification Board or achieve certification within one year from the hire date.
  • Possess strong communication,interpersonal,and problem-solving skills.
  • Be empathetic,compassionate,and supportive.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Be reliable,responsible,and detail-oriented.
  • Become knowledgeable on the agency's Recovery Community Organization and/or Drop-In Center scope of work.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and be able to transport clients as needed.
