The Accounts Payable Unit is seeking an engaging and teamwork-oriented Financial Technician. This position will perform a variety of para-professional financial duties including developing and maintaining records, documents, reports and financial data; reviewing financial documents and records; performing some entry level accounting, bookkeeping or audit functions; and perform related work. This position is located in Boise.
This position may be eligible for limited telework after successful completion of probation and necessary training. Approval to telecommute is not guaranteed and subject to termination at any time.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
  • Analyze, research, forecast, and reconcile complex financial documents.
  • Process and record vendor invoices and payments through various accounts payable applications.
  • Conduct reconciliations of daily financial activity and balance journal entries prior to posting.
  • Review, complete and process financial documents to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies for approval.
  • Obtain knowledge of the organization's programs and financial requirements to prepare, reconcile, and balance financial transactions.
  • Requires strong skills using computer systems to develop and maintain records, documents, and financial data.
  • Accurately code transactions into a variety of financial transaction systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position. It is highly recommended to attach a one-page cover letter to your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements below.
  • Good knowledge of financial record keeping methods. Typically gained by completion of two college accounting courses and at least one year of or experience OR completion of one college accounting course and at least two years of work experience OR at least three years of work experience OR a bachelor's degree in accounting OR a bachelor's degree in business with at least 20 semester credits in accounting.
  • Experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports AND using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data. Typically gained by completion of at least two computer courses on electronic spreadsheets / accounting software OR at least one year of work experience using this software.

Below is preferred experience. It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.
  • Experience using MS Excel. Typically gained by completion of related coursework or one year working with MS Excel as a normal part of your daily work.
  • Experience with the State of Idaho LUMA systems. Typically gained by experience working in an Idaho State financial accounting or self-reliance position.
  • Experience independently applying policies, procedures or regulations to determine if financial transactions are in compliance. Typically gained by coursework completed in accounting or work experience of one year.
  • Experience creating formulas and employing built-in calculation functions to perform complex financial, statistical or analytical calculations in Microsoft Excel. Typically gained by coursework completed or one-year work experience.
