Job description

The Cultivation Technician I perform cannabis plant care in all stages of its life cycle. This position is an entry level position and responsible for rotating between a limited number of functional areas.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Follow instructions given by the manager
  • Complete basic plant maintenance including bottoming, thinning, topping, and spacing
  • Transplant (up-potting) to larger containers using proper techniques
  • Harvest plants according to schedule and procedures set by management, ensuring accurate weighing of plants and accurate recording in state electronic recordkeeping system
  • Dispose of plant waste following state regulations, including weighing, and recording of waste in state electronic recordkeeping system
  • Sanitize rooms according to procedures set by management
  • Complete assigned tasks within the established timeframes and specifications
  • Compliant with company SOPs and state regulations
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Follow applicable safety procedures by wearing appropriate PPE, and reporting injuries, near misses, and hazards to management
  • Behave in a manner that is positive, productive, cooperative, and encourages teamwork
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience working in landscaping, production, manufacturing, or any other fast-paced physical environment preferred
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with state regulations

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent repetitive hand motion
  • Manual dexterity is needed for manipulating hand tools
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time (8+ hours)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Frequent standing, climbing of stairs, crouching, handling, kneeling, pinching, pulling (horizontal and vertical), lifting (waist to shoulder), reaching (waist to shoulder and above shoulder), and reading.
  • Occasional grasping, gripping, lifting above shoulder, sitting, stooping, and walking.
  • Ability to use a step ladder
  • Visual acuity is needed to accurately read small screens and labels

Workplace Environment

  • Warehouse/production facility environment with environmental controls
  • Consistent moderate background noise level due to machinery and HVAC
  • Exposure to humidity, temperature changes, atmospheric conditions, and vibration
  • Exposure to high head, bright light where eye protection is required
  • Exposure to keef/dust and cannabis odor
  • Exposure to skin contact with plants, to which some individuals may be allergic (PPE provided)
