Job Description:

Nebraska Department of Labor Finance team is looking for a person to fill a position supporting A/P with some A/R. In addition to those duties, this position will support the financial reporting team with up to half of assigned work being projects.

Advanced excel skills a plus but not necessary as long as you are willing to learn.

Examples of Work

  • Prepare and upload vouchers.

  • Review entries for accuracy and post daily.

  • Update/monitor expense reimbursement transactions.

  • Serve as back up for business unit creation for grant purposes.

  • Retrieve and file cash report daily.

  • Special projects as assigned.

  • Pre-audit and post entries daily.

  • Monthly reconciliations for Labor Treasury accounts.

  • Manage and review cash flow reporting.

  • Provide backup functions to other teams in Finance.


Location: NDOL Administration Building, 550 South 16th Street, Lincoln (On-Site)
Work Schedule: 8am - 5pm; Monday - Friday


Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in accounting, finance, business administration, statistics or related field and experience with accounting/financial management systems OR 2 years' experience with professional accounting procedures including developing and modifying accounting/financial management systems.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior participation in a team environment, skilled with business math, flexible and adaptable, problem solving, and can manage multiple priorities. Experience with multiple accounting systems, self-development, customer service, advanced Excel, and process improvement.


Other: Successful candidate will be required to complete and pass a Federal Background Check, which includes being fingerprinted.

Knowledge of: the principles and practices of accounting theory and double entry accounting concepts and procedures; generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); accounting systems; the methods of filing and maintaining accounting records; Microsoft Excel; database management; federal and State laws and regulations applicable to accounting/finance operations.

Skill in: using mathematical methods or formulas to compare, analyze and present data; compiling data from multiple sources into a single, comprehensive document or report.
