Job Description

This role blends creative interior design, technical furniture specification, and light project coordination within a commercial office furniture dealership environment. You will translate client visions into functional, aesthetically pleasing office layouts, develop detailed plans and 3D visualizations, and ensure that what is designed is exactly what arrives and is installed. This is a growth-oriented opportunity with a new, expanding dealership where you can establish yourself early and build a long-term career.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the sales team and clients to understand workplace needs, brand identity, and project objectives for commercial office environments.
  • Develop office space plans and layouts that optimize function, aesthetics, and budget using CET Designer, AutoCAD, and other design tools.
  • Create detailed furniture specifications, including all part numbers and components, to ensure accurate ordering and installation.
  • Produce 3D visualizations and renderings so clients can clearly see and approve the proposed design prior to installation.
  • Interpret and apply major office furniture manufacturer catalogs and pricing to recommend appropriate products and solutions.
  • Manage order-related details by reviewing specifications from customers and internal stakeholders to minimize errors and rework.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to support smooth project execution from concept through installation.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail in all drawings, specifications, and documentation to prevent costly ordering or installation issues.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously, balancing design quality, timelines, and client expectations.
  • Stay current on office design trends, manufacturer product lines, and best practices in workplace planning.

Essential Skills

  • Professional experience with interior design focused on office layouts and workplace planning.
  • Strong proficiency with CET Designer for space planning, specification, and visualizations.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for producing accurate plans, elevations, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, communication, and basic project tracking.
  • Deep understanding of major office furniture manufacturer catalogs and their various price points.
  • Ability to produce clear, compelling 3D visualizations and renderings for client presentations.
  • Demonstrated strength in order management and interpreting specifications from customers.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, especially when specifying workstations with numerous individual part numbers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture, preferably from a CIDA-accredited program.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • NCIDQ certification is strongly preferred.
  • Experience using SketchUp or similar tools for 3D modeling and rendering.
  • Experience with space planning in commercial office environments.
  • Familiarity with CET Designer rendering tools and workflows.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within a new and expanding organization.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and field settings alongside sales and design teams.

Work Environment

You will work as part of a collaborative team alongside sales professionals and other designers in both field and office settings. The current primary office is in Montgomery, with Auburn also considered as a base, which may involve some travel between the two locations.
