Herschend is seeking Shift Engineers to join our newest hospitality venture, Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel, located in the heart of Downtown Nashville. The ideal candidate is dependable, resourceful, service-minded, and takes pride in creating spaces where guests and fellow employees feel cared for.

The Shift Engineer position allows a qualified candidate the opportunity to join the pre-opening efforts for Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel featuring 245 rooms, two F&B Entertainment venues, a market, and Dolly Parton's Museum. This role is responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical property, equipment, and systems to ensure a safe, functional, and exceptional guest experience. This role responds to maintenance requests, performs preventative maintenance, supports emergency repairs, and helps preserve the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines the SongTeller experience.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform daily rounds e.g. checking boilers, common areas, sprinkler systems, lighting, refrigeration, fire panels, etc.
  • Attend to any work orders, guest requests, housekeeping requests, front desk requests, and/or room calls
  • Maintain all facilities and systems in safe and efficient working order
  • Complete assigned tasks in a safe, timely manner
  • Work with outside contractors to provide necessary improvements or maintenance as directed
  • Maintain records of all work activities and support materials
  • Provide written reports as needed
  • Provide for safe disposal of waste material
  • Maintain tools and work areas in safe, secure, and efficient manner
  • Work with other departments when directed
  • Keep track of supplies and fill out requests for needed supplies
  • Assist with preventative maintenance in common areas and guest rooms

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours
  • Must have schedule flexibility, possibly to include working nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous hospitality maintenance experience preferred
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Electrical, EPA, and/or HVAC certifications preferred
  • Must be able to lift arms above head and shoulders
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with guests and coworkers, including written and verbal communication
