Job description

Are you an innovator? A visionary? Do you focus on the future of local journalism? WKRN News 2 is searching for a Digital Executive Producer who will lead the evolution of our newsroom into a fully integrated, multiplatform operation. We need a journalist who is always 3 steps ahead in technology. In this position, you will oversee all programming on our streaming channel, WKRN+. You will manage both live and pre-recorded shows and newscasts. You will brainstorm and implement new streaming plans and programming to serve our audiences. Successful applicants must have mastery of television and digital platforms while maintaining the highest level of journalistic integrity.

Core Responsibilities
  • Set the vision, standards, and daily expectations for streaming performance
  • Manage editorial oversight on all streaming programs
  • Develop new streaming strategies and shows to expand WKRN+
  • Work with anchors, producers, and editors to maintain strict deadlines
  • Serve as a key voice in daily editorial decision-making, alongside broadcast leadership
  • Create accountability around metrics, content quality, and editorial judgment
  • Identify gaps and actively train the team in digital video
  • Ensure digital video and streaming plans are present early in story conception, not just at the end
  • Push for stronger, smarter story framing that works across all platforms
  • Hold the newsroom accountable to multiplatform execution
  • Integrate Digital, Broadcast, and Streaming
  • Partner with newscast EPs, assignment editors, and producers to extend the life of every story
  • Create seamless workflows between linear, digital, and streaming
  • Ensure broadcast content is consistently optimized and repurposed for CTV
  • Drive the evolution towards vertical video
  • Eliminate gaps where content is left underutilized or audience opportunities are missed
  • Drive the Growth of streaming
  • Work in lockstep with the Executive Producers to build and grow WKRN+
  • Identify daily opportunities for live, near-live, and on-demand content on streaming
  • Support and strategize the promotion of WKRN+ across all platforms
  • Stay ahead of trends and ensure WKRN is competitive in emerging formats
  • Drive measurable growth in engagement, loyalty, and reach
  • Establish clear KPIs and ensure consistent performance against them
Basic Qualifications
  • Proven leadership in a digital news environment, with experience managing people and performance
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to lead in a breaking news environment
  • Track record of driving audience growth through content strategy and execution
  • Deep understanding of SEO, analytics, and streaming platforms
  • Experience working across video, streaming, and digital storytelling formats
  • Ability to influence across teams and lead without rigid organizational boundaries
  • Strong communicator who can set expectations and hold teams accountable
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving newsroom environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Track record of digital and social media growth
  • At least 5 years of experience in both a broadcast and digital setting
