Job Description:
The RISE (Retention Initiatives and Student Engagement) Office at Madison College is seeking an Associate Program Advisor to join the team. This position provides individualized coaching, academic, career and transfer advising and case management services to support student enrollment, persistence and retention.
The Associate Program Advisor builds supportive relationships with students to assess their strengths, identify academic and career goals and address barriers that may affect their success. This role promotes persistence by teaching academic success strategies, helping students develop personalized action plans and interpreting degree progress tools to support informed course selection and educational planning.
This role involves proactively monitoring student progress, responding to faculty alerts and student concerns and providing timely outreach, early intervention, follow-up and referrals. The Associate Program Advisor connects students with campus and community resources that support their academic achievement and overall well-being and provides accessible coaching through individual appointments, workshops, classroom visits and drop-in services. The role may assist with program coordination and event management by identifying programming needs, scheduling activities, facilitating events, securing resources and providing project oversight.
Schedule: This part time, 25 hours a week, Monday - Friday, flexibility between operational hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm. To support programming and unit coverage, availability beyond 4:30pm Monday-Friday will be needed 1-2 times per month.
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position through June 30, 2027.

Accountabilities:
  • Builds supportive relationships with students to assess strengths, identify academic goals and uncover barriers that may impact success.
  • Promotes student persistence by teaching academic success strategies and guiding students in developing action plans tailored to their individual needs.
  • Connects students with campus and community resources to support holistic well-being and reduce barriers to academic achievement.
  • Responds to faculty alerts and student concerns by providing timely outreach and follow-up to address academic and engagement challenges.
  • Delivers case management and retention support through proactive monitoring, early intervention, and referrals to resources to address barriers to student success.
  • Offers accessible coaching through workshops, classroom visits, drop-in support and individual appointments to maintain consistent student contact.
  • Provides individualized academic, career, and transfer advising to support student goal-setting and interprets degree progress tools to assist students in making informed enrollment decisions such as course selection and educational planning.
  • Documents coaching interactions and tracks student outreach to support coordinated care and inform retention efforts.
  • May provide program coordination and event management, including determining event and programming needs, scheduling, facilitating, acquiring resources and providing project management oversight for programs or events.
  • Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

  • Knowledge of campus and community resources that support students' academic, financial and personal well-being.

  • Skill in building rapport and engaging with students.
  • Skill in assessing student needs and applying coaching techniques.
  • Ability to document interactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to manage multiple processes, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment.
  • Skill in effectively and respectfully communicating with others.

Associate Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience:

2-4 years of relevant and progressive work experience
