ENGLISH TEACHER

FULL-TIME | 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR

Kennedy Catholic High School is a private Catholic high school located in Burien,

Washington. It is the mission of Kennedy Catholic to cultivate a diverse community of

learners who encounter Christ, pursue excellence, and lead with love.

JOB SUMMARY

Kennedy Catholic is seeking a dynamic, self-directed educator to teach a full-time

combination of English/Language Arts classes within the English Department. Key

responsibilities include instruction and curriculum development, assessment, classroom

management and parent communication; collaboration with colleagues to ensure quality

and consistency of overall program; willing participation in the co-curricular and

ministerial life of the school; mentorship for student engagement; and fulfillment of all

additional supervision duties expected of full-time teachers.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

•Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges,

market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and

certifications. Salary is dependent upon experience, certification, and education

according to Kennedy Catholic's faculty compensation schedule. For the 2026-2027

school year, a teacher's salary ranges between $59,320 and $112,590.

•A comprehensive package of benefits is offered, including two medical plan options,

dental, vision, life, and accidental death and disability, long-term disability, pension,

403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation, and holidays.

•In-building child/dependent tuition support

•Opportunities to participate/assist with a wide array of co-curricular programs,

including athletics, arts, campus ministry, and other clubs and activities for

additional modest stipends

•For teachers in the first five years of their careers, we offer the opportunity to apply

for affordable, innovative housing options, based on availability.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

•Bachelor's degree in the specific content area (ex. English, Communications)

•WA State Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one

•Master's degree preferred

•Familiarity with educational technology

•Recent classroom experience, preferably in a high school setting

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess the skills and abilities to:

•Teach a range of English classes

•Demonstrate flexibility and resourcefulness

•Create and implement authentic assessments (formative and summative)

appropriate to the health and physical education courses assigned

•Use technology as a tool in the classroom

•Exhibit good organization and management skills

•Meet individual student needs in the development of department goals and

restructuring of the curriculum
